COP17: Key messages from Patricia Espinoza from opening ceremony

Here are the key messages Patricia Espinoza made today at the COP17's opening ceremony

What was agreed on by all in COP16 (Cancun):

• 2 degree Celsius cap
• REDD+ to be developed
• Funding mechanisms
• Technology transfer
• Transparency
• Adaptation framework and commitee

In COP17, we must do the following 3 things:

1. Full  implementation of the Cancun Agreement, including institutions
2. Long term finances is imperative
3. The future of the KP must be discussed and decided. 

The UNFCCC's conventions shall not be lost - in fact they will be reinforced. Common but differentiated responsibilities are still imperative.
